In 2009, Peachtree City celebrated its fiftieth year of following the master plan through development and redevelopment, to maintain its highly regarded village concept, interlinking path system, and natural wooded beauty of the City.

Although Peachtree City and its residents are facing some of the same economic challenges as the rest of the country, its careful land planning and development controls means they are seeing fewer foreclosures and lower unemployment rates than much of the Metro Atlanta area. Peachtree City's diversified economic base, with an industrial park of multi-national corporations, helps support the community's stability.

The city has 90 miles of paved multi-use paths that connects neighborhoods to schools, parks, and commercial centers. The paths are popular with pedestrians and cyclists, but Peachtree City is best known for its 10,000 golf carts, and many residents use golf carts for transportation around town. The city is also an attraction for golfers with 63 holes of golf on three championship courses. We have a state-of-the-art tennis center, 5 public pools, and 50 athletic fields and courts. And our two lakes,each covering 240 acres, are perfect for sailing, canoeing, and fishing.

Peachtree City offers a variety of diverse dining experiences. Beef O' Brady offers a sports bar atmosphere with great hot sandwiches. For a unique experience, try Pascals Bistro for a pasta bar, fine wine, and excellent desserts. Partners Pizza Peachtree City is known locally and nationally for its excellent pizza. Partners was voted "Best Pizza in Fayette & Coweta County" and its Roadrunner pizza won second place in the Las Vegas "Pizza of the Year" contest. Meritage at Dogwood hosts a fantastic dining experience from beginning to end. Just to name a few.

Education in Peachtree City boasts excellent standards and recognition. For example McIntosh High School has been included in Newsweek Magazine's top 1300 high schools in 2007, 2008, and 2009, placing it in the top 5% of all high schools nationwide. Additionally in 2007 McIntosh High School was named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education for having scored in the top 10% of all schools nationwide in student achievement. It also received Georgia's 2007 Platinum Award in the highest performance category for outstanding student achievement; one of seven high schools in the state to receive this honor.

There are plenty of sites to see and activities in Peachtree City. Located on the shores of Lake Peachtree and Lake Kedron, Peachtree City has a wooded, natural splendor that residents adore. The lakes provide entertainment from spring on through the fall, with picnicking, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and other outdoor activities. For concerts and theatrical performances, Peachtree City has a 2,500-seat amphitheater. For active folks, Peachtree City offers a state-of-the-art tennis center, and an indoor swimming complex. Peachtree City also offers numerous excellent shopping districts.
